EXTENSION RESOURCES

4-H Clothing Leader Guide

The 4-H Clothing Leader Guides that include member booklets are “Clothes that Click” (Ages 12–18) and “Clothing Capers” (Ages 8–11). The guides are designed to help leaders develop and lead clothing projects. The guides are available from your county Extension office.

Instructors who use this curriculum will address the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for English and Language Arts, Health Education and Home Economics Education.

Youth who have learning experiences through this curriculum may develop assets and life skills which contribute to their personal development that include constructive use of time, positive values, positive identity, wise use of resources, character and self-responsibility, and self-esteem.

The 4-H Clothing Leader Guides contain materials to teach creativity, communication, fabrics and fibers, choices, consumerism, care, culture and careers. It also has ideas for how to plan a project and suggestions for projects with different themes to interest a variety of young people.

4-H Fabric and Fashion Design Guide

The 4-H Fabric and Fashion Design Guide is a supplement to the 4-H Clothing Leader Guide. It focuses on research for design ideas, design principles and elements, and on designing fabrics, apparel, and accessories.

Annual Clothing Packet

Another valuable clothing program resource is the Annual Clothing Packet. The packet includes information about all state level contests and activities. See the Texas 4-H and Youth Clothing Program web page.

Other resources are available through the Educational Resource Library. Kits and exhibits can be reserved by your county Extension agent. And, don’t forget that other Extension publications can be used to supplement 4-H materials.
